In Memory of Martin Lanholm

It is with deep sadness that we bid farewell to Martin Landholm, a cherished member of the Pine Lakes Ranch community. His passing on Sunday, March 17, 2024, marks the end of an era for all who knew him. Martin and his wife, Rosalie, were among the earliest settlers in Pine Lakes Ranch, building their home in 1975, just as the subdivision was beginning to take shape. Their residence, perched atop a hill, offers a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains.

Martin and Rosalie have three daughters.  In 2010 Paula and John Klucksdal, Joni and LeRoy Graham, and Cara and Dan Emigh built a beautiful home on the property adjacent to their parents.  Paula said that Pine Lakes Ranch was her dad’s favorite place to be.

In 1983, Martin and Rosalie Landholm opened the doors to the first privately owned and operated DDA in Idaho. After a distinguished eighteen-year career working for the Department of Health and Welfare, Martin applied his knowledge and experience to create a company that would change lives. Currently, Gem State Developmental Center serves hundreds of individuals at four locations.

Gem State Developmental Center provides outpatient comprehensive assessments and therapeutic services and support for children and adults with developmental disabilities. We encourage individuals to maximize their strengths for greater independence and self–direction while actively providing individualized, continual, and uninterrupted services and supports for people with disabilities and their families.  The company was sold but continues to operate with the values and principles of Martin and Rosalie.

Martin leaves quite a legacy, not just the Gem State Developmental Center, but in the hearts and memories of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His influence will continue to resonate through the generations, a testament to a life well-lived and a spirit that will endure.  We will miss you, Martin.

Our love and caring go out to Rosalie and the family.
